PERSONALITYThe retrieval specialist is by no means a good guy. His checkered past poured ample amounts of innocent blood on his hands and even in the present, he continues to hurt people for a living. However, deep inside, he is a man surviving in a bad world who wants to be good. He does care about the innocents, especially children, and does what he can within the limits of his powers to help. In fact, often times he will purposefully go out of his way to keep them out of harm's path, but when his powers are mainly restricted to the ability to dish out violence and retrieving things, there's only so much he can do. If Eliot has a soft spot in his personality, that would be it. His habits come from even doses of common sense mixed with severe security consciousness. As he mentions himself, there's no such thing as paranoia for someone who did the things he has done. When he is not running around the world on jobs though, he settles pretty well with nature. He grows his own food, makes his own meals and enjoys fishing trips. He doesn't mind time spent in the wilderness, not surprising considering he spent a good part of his life running through them in third world countries. It also explains why he isn't incredibly interested in technology, and got into the habit of not sleeping much at night (~90 minutes). Moving on from discussions of morality habits, Eliot's day to day interaction with people depends on who he's talking to. As a lone wolf, he isn't a talkative person by nature. He was screwed over by the world so he is angry at the world in response, as shown by his short temper, yet he is gentle when with children, respectful when with elderly, and dripping with southern charm when with a lady. Normal people not deserving of his world's ugliness gets a reprieve from his harsher side, but cross the line into his brutal world and he won't be a decent young man anymore. Part of his anger is due to his experiences shaping his adult years, but undoubtedly a good portion of that ill temper is due to his werewolf nature too. Eliot is not at peace with the wolf part of himself. He refers to his werewolf nature as a curse and the wolf within as a beast he constantly has to fight. Due to that, he maintains a very tight control of himself at all times with hopes that he can cage the beast within him to keep him from behaving like an animal. He regards his animal form as weaker and a mark of shame from his curse. If possible, he will not let anyone who knows him as the man to also see him in his wolf form, regardless whether they know about his werewolf nature or not. It is a sore point for him that he physically transforms into a four legged beast during the nights of the full moon and it is a touchy subject at best. Also unlikely is that he will ever willingly take on that transformation unless it is a seriously dire life and death situation... and perhaps not even then. |

HISTORYThe path the retrieval specialist took to get where he is was not an easy one. Eliot's childhood started normally enough, average family, public schooling, a jock popular with girls. He went directly into the army after graduating from high school and did well for himself there, took to army life like a duck to water. During his first stationing overseas, he was discovered to be an adept combatant and have a head for tactics. It wasn't long after that that he was recruited into special forces to further enhance his abilities. Eliot Spencer was molded into a deadly tool for the government, and before the age of 20 he knew more ways to cause damage than most soldiers did in the world. While in special forces, Eliot participated in several Things went well for a several years, but no matter how many war zones he entered and how many people he fought, he eventually learned that nothing was as ruthless as politicians with something to gain. A hard lesson it was, too. On his last 'assignment that never existed', he was set up by his own government in exchange for an under the table settlement with the enemy. Someone from his unit was bribed to feed him false intel and not knowing, Eliot led his men straight into an ambush. He lost all of his men that day with the traitor he killed personally. Still, he barely got out alive himself and after a month of surviving through inhuman treatment, he escaped and bartered passage back home. Yet the reception he expected there wasn't what he got at all. His superiors denied everything as if his team never existed. With official records never acknowledging any of the black ops mission as sanctioned, there was nothing he could fall back on. He was dishonorably discharged, and that marked the end of his army career. Devastated and older beyond his years, he left the service to return home but soon realized that there was no home for someone who went through what he did. He left to take up jobs someone with his skill sets could do, returning every so often to keep in touch with the girl he loved. When she couldn't wait for him anymore and married someone else, he left home for good and was determined to make a name for himself. Eliot worked as muscle for hire for a while, getting deeper into the criminal world as his name grew larger. He became known as being very good at what he did and left a trail of destruction and mayhem behind him. At one point he made it to the top working for Damien Moreau, the growing money launderer for international crime. In fact, his name struck fear in people just by being Moreau's ruthless right hand man and was perhaps responsible for establishing half of Moreau's empire. It wasn't long before Moreau, perhaps knowingly or not, sent him to kill something beyond the means of a normal man. He was sent after a werewolf, a strong man who was, thankfully, a packless wolf. Eliot managed to win that battle, but he lost the war. The werewolf, in his dying struggles, changed into a wolf and bit him. After that job, Eliot walked away from Moreau. For months Eliot struggled with his new curse, trying to understand the nature of what happened to him. Without knowing where to go for guidance and having enough enemies than to populate a minor city, he could only retreat as a hermit would until he regained some form of control. He fought with his new bestial nature for four months until he was sufficiently certain he had the inner animal caged. He became a calmer man after that, and all his anger at the world was refocused inwards on the monster within. Eliot resurfaced back into the world later as a retrieval expert, him as his own boss, alone, and hiring only to specific clients he chose. Thanks to his new abilities, he became the best in that field too, and was hired by both sides of the fence for retrieval jobs. He made a name for himself being able to handle jobs that most people can't. |
